Rubik’s Cube: Design Icon

I just had to show off the fantastic icons I found while browsing We Love Icons. The designer Rich Dellinger has done a brilliant job of capturing the Cube (and, for enthusiasts, the Pyraminx aswell). You can download the full set for your own edification and delight — and for free! — including at a mammoth 512×512 pixels.

The web is littered with thousands of icons representing all sorts of concepts, objects, animals and people. For any game designer hoping to spruce up their latest game prototype these can be a fantastic source of cleanly drawn, compact and deliberately stylized images, perfect for game cards or game board illustrations.

There are loads of sites dedicated to unearthing icon sets: just try Googling for ‘free icons’ or ‘quality icons’ or something similar to get going. For example, Smashing Magazine has compiled a handy list of 55 free icon sets to get you started, but there’s plenty more where that came from!
